NZ Tiny House and Alternative Living Conference returns

The NZ Tiny House and Alternative Living Conference is back for its second year at the Carterton Events Centre, on Saturday, 29 September 2018.

It’s the only tiny house event in New Zealand of this scale, which brings together a large selection of speakers who have hands-on experience self-building their own tiny houses, designers who specialise in tiny houses, as well as speakers covering container homes, Earthships, yurts, off-grid living, and off-grid solar systems.

The one-day conference will be packed with information for inspiring self-builders and will also have information on reputable tiny house builders.

The conference is run by Sharla May, who completed her own tiny house build in 2017 and is currently working on her second build in Palmerston North. She also runs alternativeliving.co.nz—a website dedicated to tiny houses and alternative living.

“The alternative living movement is one of the hottest lifestyle trends in New Zealand at present,” Sharla says. “It is popular among people from all walks of life, young-to-old, and rich-to-poor. It’s a cross-cultural phenomenon that is sweeping New Zealand.”
