Watermelon Sangria recipe

Watermelon Sangria

Is there anything more refreshing than watermelon on a hot day? Traditional Spanish Sangria is made with red wine, fresh fruit and juices; we’ve just mixed it up a bit by using seasonal watermelon.

SERVES 4

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 seedless watermelon, cubed (save a couple of slices to garnish)
  • ½ bottle white wine (we used a Moscato for sweetness)
  • 150ml vodka
  • 50ml triple sec
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 medium orange, sliced
  • Fresh mint, to garnish

METHOD

  1. Place watermelon chunks in a blender and blend until very smooth.

  2. Strain to remove any bits, and pour juice into a large jug.

  3. Add wine, vodka, and triple sec, and stir well.

  4. Mix through the lime and orange slices, and refrigerate (four hours is perfect) until ready to serve.
