The latest addition to the Bailey Rangefinder line-up has just hit the New Zealand market and it’s out of this world. Introducing the Rangefinder Comet.

The all-new Australian-designed and built Rangefinder Comet is a luxurious home away from home no matter where you travel. Featuring a unique ‘flush-mount’ cassette-style slide-out wall with a retractable 32-inch TV at the foot of its Queen-size bed, the new Comet also boasts a huge front leather-look club lounge with seating for up to eight beneath panoramic Skyview windows, making it the ideal entertainer.

Its spacious 6.6-metre interior length is home to luxury apartment-grade fittings that include reverse cycle air-conditioning, a fully-equipped kitchen with a microwave, gas cooktop, and a large fridge/freezer. And of course, a separate shower and toilet rear en-suite and a top-loading 2.5kg washing machine.

Yet despite its impressive size and features when fully expanded, the new Comet is up to 800kg lighter and considerably stronger than other comparable caravans, thanks to its patented Alu-Tech construction system that has been destruction tested under harsh conditions at the Australian Automotive Research Centre at Anglesea, Victoria.

Uniquely, this allows the Comet to be towed by a wide range of medium-sized tow vehicles.

Mike Driver, director of Bailey Caravans New Zealand, says the caravan attracted a huge amount of attention at the Hamilton Caravan & Leisure Show and at the Melbourne Leisurefest in October.

The Rangefinder ‘wow’ factor

Founded in 1948, Bailey Caravans is the longest established UK manufacturer with more than 60 years’ experience in caravan design and production. During this period, it has grown to become not only the UK’s number one caravan brand—accounting for approximately one in three new caravan sales—but also now one of the largest in Europe.

In 2014, Bailey Caravans announced they would launch their own entity in Australia. Bailey Australia is the first European manufacturer to undertake caravan production in the country. Enter, the all-new, Australian-built Rangefinder series of caravans. The Rangefinder range, which also includes the Astro, Gemini, and Nebula brings together that ‘wow’ factor of quality European design, enhanced by the use of quality fixtures and fittings suited to more demanding conditions. Large, light, and contemporary living areas equipped with practical kitchens, spacious en-suites, and inviting bedrooms are all standard in the range. Buyers can also add their personal touches with a wide choice of finishing touches and upgrades.

Attention to detail is a signature feature of all Rangefinders and extends to such details as high quality, domestic Blum cupboard hinges, positive-lock cupboard handles, drop-down bench extensions, double USB points located conveniently on each side of the bed, and discrete LED strip lighting that also illuminates the interior of overhead cupboards at night.

About Alu-Tech

All Bailey Caravans are built using their patented Alu-Tech construction system. Alu-Tech design technology takes a completely new approach to bodyshell construction. Using a unique interlocking aluminium external framework, to which the body panels are bonded and then clamped using internal fixings, it has a much stronger and more rigid shell that provides greater protection against the elements.

The use of thicker, fully laminated panels in this new assembly greatly enhances the thermal performance of the shell, making Bailey Caravans genuine four-season vehicles. Replacing the timber elements in the sides and roof with a composite plastic internal skeleton and GRP wall linings, combined with fewer external joints and fixing points, enhances its resistance to moisture entry. The Bailey Rangefinder range is available at TrailLite in Pukekohe, Auckland, On the way RV in Mt Maunganui, and at a soon-to-be-announced dealership in Christchurch.

The full European Bailey line-up is available at TrailLite in Pukekohe in Auckland, On the way RV in Mt Maunganui, DeLuxe Group in Blenheim, Southern RV in Timaru, and a soon-to-be-announced Christchurch dealership.
