Top 3 tips for buying your first motorhome

UCC Motorhomes and Caravans is considered a South Island one-stop motorhome and caravan shop. Rob took the helm of UCC in 2008. You can read more about UCC here. In the meantime, here’s his top three tips for buying your first motorhome:

1. Hit the road

Plan a trip and just get out there. The first thing any potential motorhome buyer must to is to get out there and try one.

Plan a trip and just get out there. There’s no better way to find out if owning a motorhome is going to be right for you. You’ll soon get a feel for what you’re going to need and want in a motorhome. There will be things you think of that you just can’t foresee until you’ve been out on the road for a few days.

2. Needs vs. wants

Create a list of at least 10 must-haves. Once you’ve had a taste of being in a motorhome, it will be easy to create a list detailing the requirements you want. Do you want front wheel drive, or rear wheel? Do you need to be self-contained or will you use campground facilities? How much storage do you need?

3. Choose a motorhome dealer

Choose a dealer that can show you plenty of options and models. Use a reputable, trusted dealer that offers a wide range of caravans and motorhomes, not just one brand. There’s just no such thing as ‘one size fits all’.
