UCC Motorhomes and Caravans is your one-stop shop for all your motorhome and caravan needs.

The decision to purchase a new motorhome or caravan is not one most people take lightly. It’s essential to deal with a professional, trustworthy team of experts that will not only help you find the best vehicle for your needs, but can also take care of any future servicing, parts and accessories, refurbishments and repairs.

Owner Rob Floris and the team at UCC Motorhomes and Caravans are considered a South Island one-stop motorhome and caravan shop.

Rob, who took the helm of UCC in 2008, says helping its customers into the right motorhome starts with sitting down and having a good chat. "It’s important that we have a good understanding of how our customers plan to use their motorhome. Some have a very clear vision of what they want and need, others need quite a bit of guidance. Either way, we’ve got the expertise and experience to ensure our customers get the best result."

After spending more than 20 years in the manufacturing sector, Rob left in 2007 to enjoy some well-deserved time out with family. It was while travelling around the country that he discovered a passion for motorhomes. "There’s just something so incredibly rewarding about being behind the wheel of your own motorhome and having that freedom to explore wherever you choose."

UCC’s team members each share Rob’s love of the great outdoors. "Each of our staff members has a love of camping and exploring. They all have a first-hand understanding of being out on New Zealand roads and of enjoying our unique countryside, and that’s important when they’re helping someone choose the best motorhome or caravan for their needs."

Around three years ago, UCC moved to bigger, better, easier-to-find premises on State Highway 1. The move also made it possible to expand the retail side of the business. "We recognised that this was a great opportunity to offer our customers a wider range of products while still offering the same outstanding service we’ve built our reputation on," says Rob.

As well as its own brand of motorhomes, UCC also imports motorhomes from Germany and is the South Island agent for both Dethleffs and Frankia motorhomes. Dethleffs is now the largest manufacturer of motorhomes in Europe and the demand for its predominately island bed, separate shower and toilet models with huge rear boots, has seen sales surge ahead in the last couple of years.

Dethleffs has a fantastic range of motorhomes starting with the Trend range under $140,000 – which includes 200 watts of solar, an automatic satellite dish, a 19-inch TV/DVD, an external awning and a reverse camera with GPS – all the way up to the Xli A class which is the premium product.

The Frankia motorhomes are a premium-based motorhome on rear-wheel drive Mercedes-Benz chassis. These motorhomes are also German-made and pricing starts at just under $200,000.

"In order to provide Kiwis with what we believe is the best service network in New Zealand, UCC has joined forces with Acacia motorhomes in Auckland, Central RV in Taupo, and with Deluxe Group in Blenheim to provide nationwide coverage and service of the Dethleffs and Frankia product," says Rob.

UCC is also the southern-most agent in New Zealand for Southern Star caravans. It also displays some of the Dethleffs caravan range on site. To cover all price brackets and budgets, UCC has a full selection of Apollo ex-rental motorhomes – from two to six berth. Most of these have been refurbished with new bench tops, brand new solar panels and have new TVs and satellite installed.

Primarily built on an LDV and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, the UCC range is available from two to six berths. From the well-appointed kitchen with slide-out pantry and four-burner gas hob, to the 19-inch TV and the generous storage areas throughout, the range offers all the luxuries of modern, comfortable living without compromising on space. And because they’re built on site, the vehicles can be customised to suit.

UCC also has a selection of trade-ins on offer. To top it off UCC is the Christchurch agent for RV & Marine Supplies where you can get your accessory and parts requirements satisfied.

"At UCC we believe that just as when you are building your home, when you’re building your own motorhome you should be able to have exactly what you want," says Rob.

"Customers have plenty of choice in quality fabrics, wall and floor coverings, accessories and external decals." And getting those finer details exactly right is a point of pride for the team at UCC."

But taking care of its customers doesn’t end with the vehicle sale. Within its full motorhome and caravan service centre workshop, UCC also provides a full range of service and support options including mechanical servicing and repairs, parts and accessories for all UCC motorhomes and refurbishment for all motorhome models.

UCC also has three NZMCA certified self-containment officers on site to take care of any self-containment needs.

And with increasing numbers of Kiwi families discovering the joy of motorhoming, the upcoming summer season is set to be another busy one for UCC with some exciting new products on the horizon. "Keep an eye out at the motorhome shows later this year where we’ll be exhibiting the new 2017 models of both Dethleffs and Frankia," he says.

"And of course, if you’re thinking about buying a motorhome, we’re always happy to have a chat and help make sure you get the best motorhome, the best value, and the best experience."
