South Island Lilliput Rally 2020 and Caroline Bay Rock & Hop Festival

Lilliput owners are gearing up for their South Island rally. The rally will begin in Havelock on Sunday 8 March, through Carters Beach, Hokitika, Fox Glacier, Haast, Wanaka, and Dunedin, then to Tīmaru where the contingent of caravans will be the main attraction at the Caroline Bay Rock & Hop Festival, with a final rally night at Geraldine on 22 March.

The Caroline Bay Rock & Hop is organised by Hospice South Canterbury and is a show for all cars, caravans and motorbikes from modern to vintage, from classic to muscle. Along with the show, there is a nostalgia theme celebrating the best of the 1950s and 1960s. Everyone is encouraged to dress in the style of the era.

Saturday is the big ‘show and shine’ gala day, with cars on display at Caroline Bay, stalls, bands, food, best-dressed awards, and the final of the ‘Wear Your Parts’ awards. Saturday opens to the public from 10am to 4pm.

Other events during the weekend include a Riverstone Cruise, the Friday night Main Street cruise and party, the Geraldine cruise, Saturday night dance party, and a Sunday breakfast before the Tekapo cruise. If you have a vehicle and want to take part in the activities, the cost is $40 per car or caravan and $35 per motorbike. Entry to the gala day is by donation to the local hospice.
