The Nelson Arts Festival is one of New Zealand’s longest-running regional festivals, with a fantastic mix of theatre, music, dance, circus, visual arts and talk. In 2019, the festival will include a variety of acts from The Topp Twins to Tami Neilson, international story-tellers to slapstick buffoons. There will also be shows featuring babies, chickens and your very own dance moves.

There’s all this and more, kicked off with the world-famous Mask Parade and Carnivale, where almost everyone comes to town for the best street party ever. And don’t miss Piki Mai, a free light show with massive projections onto the cathedral and church steps. On every night for free.
