Media release: Show charity to benefit from prizes

Visitors to this year’s Camper Care NZ Motorhome and Caravan Show - coming to Mystery Creek Events Centre at the end of February - will have the opportunity to give a little something back for charity.

The show has announced the introduction of a new Quick Fire Raffle where every hour their nominated charity, Lions Clubs International , will be outside one of the shows exhibitors sites, selling tickets, and spinning the winning wheel where one lucky person will win the prize supplied by the exhibitor for that hour. All proceeds from the quick fire raffle will be donated to the Waikato Bay of Plenty Lions Cancer Lodge via Lions Clubs International.

Event Organiser, Michele Connell said of the announcement, "We are excited to be assisting such a worthy cause, who do amazing things in our community, and for our show visitors to also maybe win a bargain along the way".

Lions Project Co-ordinator Peter Knox says "There are not many people who don't know somebody who has had cancer of one sort or another. Lions are very proud to be associated with the Waikato Bay of Plenty Cancer Society's Lions Lodge in Lake Road, Hamilton. Each year hundreds of people undergoing treatment at Waikato Hospital's Oncology department stay at the Lodge. By purchasing tickets in the raffles, which prizes so wonderfully donated by the exhibitors will assist each one of those people undergoing treatment. The Lodge is a place that we as Lions are very proud of".

There will also be a number of other new options on offer at this year's show, adding to its already well regarded reputation as the biggest and best show of its kind in the country.

They include the all-new Resene Do-Up where entrants will compete to "refresh and beautify" their caravan over a three day competition. Competitors will have to work as a team, within a budget and will be judged on their design and workmanship. And just to keep them on their toes, a few extra challenges will be thrown in along the way. Show visitors will also be treated to a must see display of classic caravans ranging across the decades of the 50's and 60's, which are sure to bring back memories of those wonderful childhood holidays.

There will also be a number of demonstrations across the weekend, including The Leisure Line & Southern Star electronic stability control demo, highlighting the advantages of having Electronic Stability Control fitted to your caravan, as well as celebrity chef Chelsea Winter, who will be cooking up dishes designed specifically for the chef on the road.

Why not stay on site and enjoy the flavour and atmosphere of the whole show weekend. For the first time the onsite TOP 10 Rally will be free of charge with plenty of room to park up for the duration of the show. There'll be a 'Daily Dairy' to purchase all the staple items needed for a weekend away without having to leave the venue, along with some fantastic evening entertainment options including a ticketed BBQ and Jazz night on Friday, as well as a Dine and Dance function on Saturday evening.

Michele also comments "We're excited at the move to Mystery Creek, which will give show visitors the opportunity to experience a full weekend of activity showcasing the latest and greatest, as well as the classics of the industry. As well as the quick fire raffle there will also be the chance to win our fantastic gate prize, a 14 day Top 10 North Island Adventure in a Kea motorhome, including entry to ten of the best North Island attractions. "

The North Island Camper Care NZ Motorhome & Caravan Show will be held at Mystery Creek, Hamilton from Friday the 28th of February to Sunday the 2nd of March 2014.
