The number of families happily milling on the lake edge underscored the attraction of the innovative try-before-you-buy concept, which saw many jetskis, jetboats, model boats, kayaks and the latest in trailer boats, not only on display, but also available to test on the lakes.
Retailers across the board also reported good results, with Motek selling four units as a result of the show.
Roto-Kohatu Reserve is a 35-hectare reserve on the Christchurch city fringe, with a cluster of three small lakes, each dedicated to a different marine pursuit. With arching blue skies overhead and blazing sunshine, the setting was perfect as crowds revelled in the three-day event and the majority of exhibitors vowed to return again next year.
