Words from our winners: Tracy at Café Irresistablue

“Time was tight and we couldn’t fit in a weekend away, so decided to use our prize as an excuse for a day trip from Auckland. It was a blustery, cool day for January.

But we arrived for lunch at the cosy Café Irresistiblue in Monavale near Cambridge, and got a lovely sheltered outdoor table overlooking the huge fields of blueberry bushes waving in the wind. A big friendly rooster joined us – he seemed to be the boss, and was a bit of a character.

The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered two beautiful meals – a lamb dish and a burger, each with a blueberry twist, followed by really good coffee and some sweet blueberry tarts. Thanks for a lovely day!”
