Words from our winners: Murray Copeman at Camp Glenorchy

Leaving Queenstown on a beautiful sunny day and travelling beside Lake Wakatipu. What an awesome drive, with snow on the mountain tops, and the only ripple on the lake was the TSS Earnslaw making its way to Walter Peak High Country Farm.

Camp Glenorchy is a stunning spot for motorhomers

On arriving at Camp Glenorchy, with the weather being fine and sunny, the camp looked stunning and very inviting. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist who was informative and gave us a tour of the camp, explaining the eco environment.

The aesthetics of the camp are superb and it is set out to have a village atmosphere. Cabins, bunk huts and RV sites enclose a central lawn with a covered barbecue area.

The barbecue area also has a large stone fireplace that is a great place for meeting and greeting other visitors or a quiet drink with friends on a cool evening.

There is a large, well-equipped shared kitchen and dining area as well as a comfortable lounge area for a get-together or a quiet read. The recycled materials used give it a modern rustic feel.

Camp Glenorchy is just a few minutes’ walk from the township, which has a range of outdoor activities including tramping, jet boating and horse riding, to name a few.
We very much enjoyed our stay!
