Based on the popular three-litre 160bhp turbo diesel Fiat Ducato Maxi panel van with auto/manual transmission, the main appeal of the Adria Twin is its innovative layout, which Adria pioneered and many other manufacturers have copied.
It has a half dinette behind the swivel cab seats. The permanent east/west bed across the rear of the van folds and lifts to provide access from front to back and through the rear doors, as well as full height storage – very handy for transporting a couple of bicycles. This bed is mounted a little higher than normal, giving more space for storage below.
Between the dinette and the bed is a full washroom with shower and toilet. Opposite is a hanging locker with an 80-litre three-way fridge below, with a useful sized kitchen bench unit that partly closes off the sliding side door entranceway. In the bench top are a two-burner hob and a generously sized round sink.
Creature comforts include gas/electric water heating, gas central heating and an electrically operated entry step. The dinette converts into a third bed if required. Two roof hatches with blinds and insect screens provide good ventilation options.
The honey coloured interior joinery is stylishly modern and well made. The lounge and cab cushions are buttoned and upholstered in grey faux suede with striped highlight panels in beige and blue. Very smart.
The attractive exterior is finished in metallic grey with blue trim stripes and the bumper trim remains black. Van conversions like the Adria Twin are becoming popular entry level RVs, as well as the primary means of transportation for those who only want to own one motor vehicle.
The Adria Twin is available from Barrons in Taupo and retails for $119,995 plus on road costs of $2880 (all inc GST).
